Someone starting a new business may ask, "What is SEO?" They may hear that term tossed around when it comes to marketing a website. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It's a fancy term for a series of actions you can take on your website to make it easier for people to find.

Here are a few tips to follow when managing your SEO:

1. Keyword Research: Think about the keywords you want to use on your website. Test them out. See what is displayed in the search results. Focus on what your website is mainly about. Create a list of those terms.

2. Utilizing Keywords Effectively: Now that you have a list of keywords, be sure to incorporate them into the content of your site. Site title, taglines, alt-tags, etc.

3. Update Content Frequently: Keeping your site fresh helps with your ranking on search engines. Static sites tend to rank lower than dynamic sites. Dynamic sites, such as Wikipedia are consistently ranked higher on topics that are search due to their content consistently being updated.

4. Be Conversational: When writing your website or blog content, be sure to come across more conversational in tone. You don't want to come across

sounding like an instruction manual.
