Content Marketing: Keeping it Simple

There always something to be said about simplicity. I think the same thing can be said about starting out in content marketing. It can be overwhelming at first.

Creating Simple Content

If you're just getting started in a new business and want to get into developing content, here is what I recommend: Keep it simple

Develop content that helps answer questions or solves a perceived problem with the industry your targeting. Having a focus will help simplify your messaging.

Be consistent Developing content can take time. You'll want to get into the habit of posting at least twice a week. It may help to create an editorial calendar to map out your content. For instance if you're in real estate, focus on market news on Monday, but highlight home improvement projects that raise home values on Friday.

Be aware of all the social channels, but focus a select few.

There will always be a new social channel to post your content on. Trying to keep up with the constant changing landscape can be daunting. Start by using the main channels: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. As your following grows, you'll feel more comfortable expanding into other channels.
